On a Professional day in November of 2021, our staff met and we asked them to draw (in teams of 2 or 3) the traits, attributes, qualities, tools and skills that they would like a student to have/be when they leave McNeely after grade 7.  

Essentially, we asked"

What's in their "backpack?" 

What's in their "toolkit?"

What do they have in their "head/heart?"

We then asked another question: Which areas does your group think are most important?  

Then we did a gallery walk to look at everyone's contributions. 

And then asked 2 more questions: 

1) Which of these (areas) do you feel our students are currently possessing when they leave?

2) Which of these (areas) do you feel our students are currently lacking when they leave?

Looking ahead, we asked them to think about which areas they might want to make more of a priority as they moved ahead.
